Overall Thoughts

- This assignment had a new challenge: I had to decide where the gradients were myself
- The hardest part was deciding which shade to use on the shadow side of the duct tape
- I also broke in some new brushes because at the last live lesson, Piper said to go ahead and use up all the brushes.
- The new brushes were floppy, so it was tricky doing the hard edges.
- It’s also tricky to do two gradients of different shades next to each other and keep the straight line in between them. This happened on the right side of the painting, between the bottle and the background.
Total time spent:
- Started on Saturday, 4/2, from about 3:18pm until around 7:40pm, and then cleaned up until a bit after 8.
- Total time: 4 hours, 20 minutes.
If I were to start this painting over right now, what would I do differently?
- Pay attention to the details! I missed a shadow at the top of the vase.
- More time on gradients, work on smaller sections at a time, clean brush more
- Wider gradient on the duct tape

My Questions & Instructor Feedback
- I asked about how to choose the values for the duct tape. She said we’re ignoring reflections for now, so we choose the value by looking at the darkest, no-reflections part of the side of the tape.
- Also, I missed a shadow at the top of the vase.
