Evolve Artist Block 2 Assignment 6: Drawing 4 (cylinder, orange, girl scout cookie box)

Overall Thoughts

This one was HARD! I made the cylinder myself, based on what I saw in the assignment example. It ended up probably being too long. Ah well. And I was going to use an apple at first, but I saw an orange sitting on the counter, so went with that instead.

Total time spent:

  • Started at 4:00pm finished at 5:30ish because my cylinder was too tall and the proportions were too big for my paper, and I had to readjust the still life setup (pushing the cookie box closer and angling it by pushing the backside farther back) and redo my guess, measurements, and finally drawing.

If I were to start this drawing over right now, what would I do differently?

  • Don’t do two drawings and 6 extra proportional drawings in the same day, no matter how excited you feel about it. You get tired and start to cut corners.
  • Definitely start by checking that there’s enough room on my paper for the entire drawing before getting started with sketching and guessing, etc.
