TK continue
- What should I draw?
- How long should it take?
- Drawing/painting should not take more than 30-45 min tops or else the drawing is too complicated for you.
- Once you can draw something accurately and easily in 30 minutes, you can move on to something more complex.
- My objects don’t fit on the canvas
- If objects don’t fit on the canvas, that may be because you chose two objects that are too disparate in size. You can fix this by choosing a third object whose size is in between.
- Do I draw right on the canvas?
- My drawing looks great but the painting doesn’t turn out as well
- What if I run out of steam?
- Keep things simple. Goal is not insanely great paintings, goal is learning. Keep the 30-min rule. It’s okay to be simple.
- Composition: Your first idea will never be the final. Push it a little. “What if I did this…?” Especially end f block 2+, you can still use simple objects, just in compelling positions.
- Look at how fellow students set up their still lives to get ideas.
- You want crisp light and shadow, 2/3 light, 1/3 shadow. Check your studio’s lighting.
- Best color for the inside of the box? A dark color, ideally. Nothing too light. Black, blue, etc. Or black poster board.
- How do I handle depth and cylinders?
- TBD…
